Why Music?
Music has much to offer people of all ages, from casual hobbyists
to advanced performing artists. Learning to play music is a
wonderful, life-enriching experience.
Beyond the intrinsic value of music for its own sake, it also
develops other important life skills – good study habits and the
ability to set goals and perform steady, repeated actions over time to
accomplish those goals.
Music is a great way to connect with other people in a
cooperative, sharing environment.
Recent studies have shown
that playing music opens up learning pathways in the mind,
increasing ability in other areas, such as reading and mathematics. George has witnessed this time and again with his own students,
and joins with other educators in recommending music instruction for all children as a basic and
important part of their educational foundation.
